Water Heater Problems? Signs You Need Plumbing Services Right Away

Has your water heater been giving you trouble? If it has, it's time to call a plumber. You might think you can postpone repairs, but that's not the case. Some water heater problems need immediate attention. Read the list below. Here are four signs your water heater needs plumbing services right away.

Temperature

If your water heater isn't keeping a constant temperature, it's time to take a closer look. If you're not getting any hot water, there could be an issue with the pilot light. If you have an electric water heater, the circuit might have blown. If there's not enough hot water for showers and laundry, your water heater might be too small. If you're dealing with these issues, call a plumber. It's time to repair or replace your water heater.

Sediment

If you keep finding dirt and sand floating in your hot water, check the cold water. If you've got dirt in your hot and cold water, the problem is in the pipes. You can fix that issue by installing a water treatment system. If you only see dirt in the hot water, the problem is in the water heater.

When water gets heated, minerals break free and sink to the bottom of the water heater. Unfortunately, the minerals end up in your water. If you want to get rid of the sediment, call a plumber. Flushing your water heater should get rid of the sediment. If it doesn't, you may need to replace your water heater.

Bulging

If you've spotted bulges or distortions in the shape of your water heater, call a plumber right away. Bulges and distortions are a sign that there's too much pressure inside the water heater tank. If you keep using your water heater, it could rupture. Unfortunately, a water heater rupture could lead to serious injuries. Reduce the risk. Turn the water heater off, and notify your plumber. Don't use the water heater until you can get it replaced.

Leaks

If your water heater has sprung a leak, it's time to call for plumbing service. Water heaters are a common problem with water heaters. Some leaks are caused by loose pipes or hoses. But, other problems can cause leaks. Some of those include loose gaskets, tank corrosion, and broken pressure relief valves. As soon as you find a leak, schedule plumbing repairs right away. Leaks can lead to water damage and tank corrosion. Before you encounter those problems, get your water heater repaired.
